Mountie killer Laurie Bell's revealing parole records
Cop killer Laurie Ann Bell (inset) is an impulsive, drug-addled alcoholic who has contempt for the courts and has shown little remorse or understanding of the impact of her crimes, National Parole Board records reveal (read them after the jump). Now she's at the centre of a prison-sex scandal. She was released from penitentiary in March 2008, after serving two thirds of her 10-year sentence for manslaughter in the death of RCMP officer Dennis Strongquill in 2001. He was a 52-year-old father of six. Bell, 27, is back behind bars, her release suspended, because she's accused of having a secret affair with a male prison guard at the Edmonton Institution for Women, where she had been locked up.A condition of Bell's release required her to "report all intimate relationships to your parole supervisor." According to the Winnipeg Free Press, Bell hooked up with the guard while behind bars and the relationship continued after her release, though the Corrections Canada staffer denies the hanky panky claims.
The two parole records produced here reflect decisions from January 2008, just before her first release, and January 2009, when her restrictions were eased. They don't mention the alleged prison-guard affair, but the parole board will have to review her suspension shortly and decide whether to put her back behind bars until her sentence expires in 2010. That's when the secret relationship may be documented in a parole board decision. The parole documents show she was far from a model prisoner. She was involved in several violent altercations with other inmates, including a 2005 assault in which she smashed a tin can into the head of a fellow convict. That earned her a new conviction for assault with a weapon.
The records also show that Bell continued to believe she was treated unfairly – that her sentence was too harsh. It's worth recalling her involvement in the crime: She and two men, Danny and Robert Sand, were on a 10-day crime spree across the Prairies in December 2001. They stole seven trucks in and around Edmonton, Alberta and robbed a bank. The trio broke into a farm and stole 10 weapons and hundreds of rounds of ammunition. On December 21, they were pulled over near Russell, Manitoba, in a routine traffic stop by RCMP officers Brian Auger and Strongquill (inset). Robert Sand opened fire on the Mountie vehicle with a sawed-off shotgun. The officers drove off but the trio chased them, ramming the police vehicle. Auger was thrown out but Strongquill was trapped. Sand, in the words of Bell's parole board report, "fired four shotgun blasts into his upper torso." At Bell's trial, witnesses said she shouted "kill him! kill him!" Bell was convicted of manslaughter and sentenced to 10 years in prison, but was given credit for three years of pre-trial custody. Danny Sand was killed by police when the murderous threesome was cornered at a Saskatchewan motel. Robert Sand was convicted of first-degree murder and sentenced to life in prison with no chance of parole for 25 years.Decision #1, January 30, 2008: Parole board orders Bell to stay at a halfway house after she is released from prison
Decision #2, January 19, 2009: Parole board eases Bell's restrictions, despite her infractions and unrepentant attitude

I am getting so sick of all the pictures you guys are trying to paint of this girl!!!
Someone that i personally have known for 18 years. She is not a violent person. I have been in jail and it is a tough place to be. First off she is like 4' 10" tall and only ways about 90 lbs so you bet your ass she had to fight to survive in a f**king federal pen!!!
Defending yourself is not being violent!!!
I actually seen laurie in Athabasca at the Burger Bar on one of those weekends that she was supposely in edmonton. And all she wanted was to be left alone to get on with her life why is that so bad she has done her time.
If you people knew anything about this girl or her background growing up you would also know that she has never had an easy life.
She simply fell in love with a bad apple that promised her the world at 17 years old.
All she ever wanted was to be somebody. Growing up with an abusive alcholic father don't help.
We were all a teenager once and all have made wrong decisions in our lives.
And someone should knock the shit out of that f**king reporter in brandon that keeps painting the bad picture of this girl.
Why can't people just leave her the F**K alone and let her get on with her life.
To whomever wrote on October 18th,
I applaud you!
Laurie has been a friend of mine since I was 6 years old, I am to am sick of all the negative comments being posted about her, Laurie is an amazing person who got caught up in stituation that went bad, I have seen and spent time with her since her release and she wanted so badly to just get on with her life and have people leave her alone...spend some time with family and friends who have missed her in their lives for the past years, I'm disgusted that her parole was suspended and she has been made to return to prison and I look forward to when justice is served and she is allowed once again to return home to us so we can all help her pick up the peices and become once again the person we know and love!
So once again.....leave her the f#ck alone! Blame the person who commited this crime not the innocent girl who would never hurt a fly!
I do not know this girl but what i have seen in the report that she has violated the terms of her release is not putting her down. As any parole accepted imate knows that the terms have to be followed. I don't care if any of you have served several years or not, this is just the way it goes. She isn't sent back just because she was having a relationship with someone. Its because she broke the rules of the agreement several conditions were not followed. As for justice would you like to go to the kids of the cop and tell them she was a victim. Hell NO! She was there she knew what was going on she didn't try to stop it. In Law she is as guilty as pulling the triger herself. Not saying this is right but don't sit there and say the poor girl is a victim. As far as having an alcholic parent doesn't cut it. I know! Yes we have made bad choices in our lives but that is one hell of a f##ked up choice. Don't sit there and tell me she didn't know they had a gun don't tell me she didn't know what was going on and hell don't tell me she don't deseve what she got. Lucky she got parole because really if you look at it who says they have to let her out at all.... When she does get out she defines everything she agree to do and now poor her she is having a bad time this reporter is picking on her. What the fu@k did she expect. Good thing she is still breathing. As far as justice---The cop who was shot ---I'm sure his family isn't having there justice because he isn't comming back he isn't getting parole. Sorry sh*t happens and she will be judge by society until the day SHE dies and thats just the way it is so she might as well serve her time. Sorry to you who are her friends but this is reality as we know it!!!!!!!
and what about the female guards screwing with married guards
I hope she pays for her mistakes till the day she dies....hell has place for her. She is such a nice girl...cut the bullshit...I question what kind of people you are to stick up for her as one stated they were in jail as well...get a life! She killed a human being and a good police officer....she had a tough life...blah blah....cry me a river. So did I and I am a fine example of a canadian citizen. Truly pathetic! How I wish we could lock you up forever or throw you on an island and let you suffer.
She should stay in a jail with 3rd world ammenities .... until natural death. Unfortunately Canada does not have these jails not does it have the 'balls' to punish criminals properly. So sad ...
